For dedicated Goodwill supporters Lori Efroymson-Aguilera and her husband, Sergio Aguilera, the organization’s mission, quality leadership, consistency, adaptability and versatility are what keep them engaged.
“I’m not only impressed with Goodwill, but I’m impressed with the people they serve,” Lori says. “I can remember an adult male who came here and learned how to read. It changed his entire life. He just hadn’t gotten that far in his education. Dramatic changes—each year, there’s one story that tops another.” |
Lori says she began her support of Goodwill when William A. Dyer Jr., a former Goodwill Industries Foundation Board chairman, began talking to her about the Foundation and how endowment funds could be grown to support Goodwill’s mission. She joined the board in 1990 and says the outstanding volunteer and staff leadership have made the organization strong.
The couple openly shares their support for all areas of Goodwill’s mission, and they see many ways the organization touches people’s lives.
“You can stop somebody on the street, and they probably have been served or have used the stores, and they know about Goodwill,” Sergio says. “That level of recognition is very important, and I think that’s part of the success. We can see that the future of Goodwill will be a success, and it will continue to adapt to serve the new needs of the people that it serves.”
