Adult Basic Education, GED classes available at Goodwill
Evening classes accommodate working adults

Goodwill offers evening Adult Basic Education (ABE) and General Equivalency Diploma (GED) preparation classes from 5 to 8 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. This is a perfect time for adults who work during the day and want to improve their basic skills or prepare for the GED.

ABE offers individualized instruction in reading, math and writing and students are taught the skills needed to pass the GED test. Students also are taught life skills such as maintaining checking and savings accounts and filling out job applications and timecards.

There is no fee to attend ABE or GED classes. Enrollment is open year round, and adult learners may take the class for as long as necessary to pass the GED exam or reach their academic goals.

Evening classes will continue throughout the summer with a break in early August. ABE and GED classes are conducted in the Youth Learning Center Resource Room, 1635 W. Michigan St.

Prospective students are given a placement test and begin their studies at the level they are currently functioning. Classroom assistant instructor Glennie Avant uses a combination of computerized, group and individual lessons.
