James M. McClelland
President and CEO

James M. McClelland

A native of Florida, McClelland has spent nearly all of his professional life with Goodwill Industries. In 1970, following three years of military service, he entered Goodwill Industries of America’s Executive Training Program in Houston. In 1972, he became Executive Vice President of Goodwill Industries in Beaumont, Texas, following which he accepted the position of Vice President-Operations of Goodwill Industries of Central Indiana, Inc., headquartered in Indianapolis. Since 1974, McClelland has been President and CEO of the Indianapolis-based Goodwill organization which, with 2,500 employees and $100 million in revenue, is one of the largest of 160 Goodwill corporations in North America.

During his career, McClelland has served on numerous not-for-profit boards at the local, national, and international levels and chaired several of them. Much of his international involvement has been through Goodwill Industries, and for the past nine years, he has helped start new Goodwill organizations in South Korea.

At the local level, McClelland is a member of the Board of Directors of Citizens Energy Group, the Board of Visitors of the Indiana University Kelley School of Business – Indianapolis, and the Board of Governors of the Economic Club of Indiana.

McClelland has received numerous awards, including the Kenneth K. King Outstanding Management Award from Goodwill Industries International. In December 2000, he was named Nonprofit Executive of the Year by The NonProfit Times, a national business publication for nonprofit management; in 2009, he was inducted into the Central Indiana Business Hall of Fame; and in 2011, he received the Distinguished Entrepreneur Award from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. He is also the recipient of an Honorary Doctor of Public Service degree from Christian Theological Seminary.

McClelland earned a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering degree from Georgia Tech and an MBA from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.

Scott Bess
Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Goodwill Education Initiatives, Inc.

Bess is Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Goodwill Education Initiatives, Inc., which operates the Indianapolis Metropolitan High School and The Excel Center.

Bess has been a teacher and has worked in the Information Technology field for a Fortune 500 company and as an independent business owner. He lives in Danville, Indiana, with his wife, Robin, and four children. He has been on the School Board of Trustees in Danville for the past 12 years, serves on the Board of the Indianapolis Private Industry Council and was recently elected to serve as a board member of College Mentors for Kids.

Kenneth A. File
Vice President for Advancement, Goodwill Industries Foundation of Central Indiana, Inc.

File joined Goodwill Industries Foundation of Central Indiana, Inc. in 2012 as Vice President for Advancement. He has over 30 years of experience in nonprofit management, the last 15 years as the chief development officer for Delta Tau Delta Educational Foundation. File serves as President of the North American Interfraternity Foundation and also is a member of The Association of Fund Raising Professionals, National Committee on Planned Giving and the Indiana Society of Fund Raising Professionals. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Kansas State University and an MBA from University of Indianapolis.

Cindy L. Graham
Vice President, Marketing

Graham has served as Vice President of Marketing for Goodwill Industries since 1995. She is responsible for marketing research and strategic planning. She leads the marketing team that creates all external and internal communications and is responsible for sales support and advertising.

Graham has operated her own full-service marketing communications agency. She spent 10 years in developing marketing and sales promotion campaigns for a mutual life insurance company. Prior to that, she created communications programs for two other not-for profit organizations. A graduate of Ball State University, Graham is active in the International Association of Business Communicators and the Business Marketing Association. She makes numerous presentations on topics related to marketing, creativity, communication and team building.

Jim Humphrey
Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Goodwill Commercial Services and GW Commercial Services, Inc. Toggle Bio

Humphrey joined Goodwill in 2000 and leads Goodwill’s Commercial Services operations, helping to provide employment opportunities to individuals with limited vocational options while offering supply chain and other business services. Prior to joining Goodwill, he worked in supply chain management for Colgate-Palmolive in Jeffersonville, Indiana; Cambridge, Ohio; New York, New York; and Bangkok, Thailand.

Humphrey graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management and is a member of Warehouse Education and Resource Council (WERC) and the Council of Supply Management Professionals (CSCMP). Outside of work, he and his wife reside in Hendricks County and enjoy spending time with their family. He is active in his church and enjoys coaching youth sports and all types of outdoor projects.

Commercial Services

Kent A. Kramer
Vice President, Retail Operations

Kramer has served since 2002 as a Vice President of Goodwill Industries of Central Indiana, Inc., in Indianapolis. He manages the retail division of more than 50 locations, including retail stores, outlet stores, eCommerce sites, attended donation centers and the transportation division. He previously held multiple-store leadership positions with Sam's Club and K-mart.

Away from work, Kramer enjoys spending time with his wife and their four children. He has coached youth baseball, basketball and soccer for the past nine years, and is the vice president of the Pendleton Youth Soccer Association. He is an active member of the Parent Teacher Organization for his children's school and has served on various committees for the South Madison School Corporation. He and his family also are active members of Madison Park Church of God. Kramer earned a Bachelor of Science in Management from Indiana State University, serves as a board member of the Indiana Recycling Coalition, and is a graduate of the Goodwill Industries International Executive Training Program. He is a 2006 graduate of the Ardath Burkhardt Board Leadership Series.

Zaida Monell, MS, SPHR
Vice President, Employee and Organization Development

Monell came to Goodwill Industries in January 2003 as Director, Employee and Organization Development. She formerly worked with migrant workers for Red Gold, Inc., in Orestes, Ind., and in a variety of human resources management positions with Ethicon, LLC, a division of Johnson & Johnson, and Hanes Menswear, Inc., and Sara Lee Corporation, both in her native country of Puerto Rico. As the community liaison for English for Students of Other Languages (ESOL) in Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township during the 2002-03 school year, Monell served as the first contact for Hispanic and international families relocating to the Indianapolis area.

She has developed and directed HR functions in domestic and offshore organizations for over 20 years. Her special proficiency is developing talent through coaching, training and mentoring. She was selected by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute for a Competitive Workforce to attend the Business LEADs Institute, a three-day seminar in Washington, D.C., in May 2010. She is a board member of Indiana INTERNnet, a program managed by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce and a volunteer for Staffing Management Association (SMA), a special interest group within IndySHRM, the Indiana Chapter of the Society of Human Resource Management.

Monell earned a degree in psychology from the University of Puerto Rico. In May 2011, she received a Master’s Degree in Positive Organization Development and Change from the Case Western Reserve University Weatherhead School of Management. Monell is an administrator for Targeted Selection®, Development Dimensions International’s leading behavior-based selection system. She holds a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification.

She and her husband relocated to Indianapolis in 2000 with their three children. In her spare time, Monell enjoys networking, reading and traveling.

Keith A. Reissaus
Vice President, Community and Workplace Initiatives

Reissaus has held various human resources and organization development positions in Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York with major corporations that included Kraft General Foods, General Electric and RCA. He is currently Chairman of The Leapfrog Group in Washington, D.C., a member of the Indiana Employers Quality Health Alliance, and a founding board member of Better Healthcare for Indiana. He received an undergraduate business degree from the University of Evansville and Graduate Certificates from Georgetown University and Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. Reissaus is a Georgetown University Center for Juvenile Justice Reform Fellow and holds a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification.

Daniel J. Riley
Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Riley has served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Goodwill Industries since 1997, with responsibilities for accounting, payroll, finance, treasury, risk management, facilities, new construction, safety and loss prevention. He is a Certified Public Accountant and previously worked at Cinergy Corporation and Arthur Andersen in Indianapolis. Riley is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Indiana CPA Society and serves on the Indianapolis Chapter Board of Financial Executives International.

Away from work, he enjoys running, cycling, and spending time with his wife and their two children. Riley was named the 2008 Not-For-Profit CFO of the Year by the Indianapolis Business Journal and is a graduate of the Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership Series (Class XXVI). He has served as a board member at the Arthur Jordan YMCA and in various volunteer activities at St. Luke Catholic Church and North Central High School. He is a board member of Art With A Heart, a small non-profit with a mission to provide hands-on visual arts experiences that educate and inspire Indianapolis children at risk. He is also a member of the Indianapolis Archdiocese Finance Council. He holds a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Indiana State University.

Jeffrey S. Ton
Vice President and Chief Information Officer

Ton joined Goodwill Industries of Central Indiana, Inc., in 2010 to provide vision and leadership in the continued development and implementation of the enterprise-wide information technology portfolio, including applications, infrastructure, security and telecommunications across the Goodwill business units. He has owned his own management consulting firm and was the CIO for Lauth Property Group. Prior to Lauth, Ton spent 14 years in various technology roles with Thomson Multimedia (RCA).

Away from work, he and his wife enjoy canoeing, gardening and travel. He is a member of the US Green Building Council and a LEED Accredited Professional. Ton has led workshops in Green Building, Green Living, and Servant Leadership. He also spends time as a keynote speaker for civic organizations and corporations, speaking on a wide variety of topics, including Lewis and Clark, leadership and green living and business operations.

  • Owen B. Melton, Jr., Chair
    Owen B. Melton, Jr.

    Owen B. (Bud) Melton, Jr. retired on Dec. 31, 2003, as President and Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of First Indiana Bank, N.A., a national bank, and as President and Chief Operating Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of First Indiana Corporation, (NASD – “FINB”), having served in those positions since October 1983. Under Melton’s leadership, the First Indiana Bank grew its asset base from $400 million to nearly $2.2 billion, with more than $208 million in capital.

    Melton is active in the Indianapolis community and currently in his second term as a Governor-appointed member of the Board of Trustees of the State of Indiana’s Indiana Finance Authority. He also is a member of the board of directors and Audit Committee member of Star Financial Bank; a board member and President of the Indianapolis Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation Citizens’ Academy; a member of the Board of Visitors of the Indiana University Kelley School of Business-Indianapolis; and a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Challenge Foundation Academy, Inc. He is a past President and two-term Program Chairman of the Economic Club of Indiana and currently serves on its Board of Directors and as its Treasurer; currently serves as a Director Emeritus of the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Indianapolis and is a past member of the Board of Trustees of the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Indianapolis Political Action Committee. He also currently serves on the coaching staff of the Carmel High School Girls Soccer Team as their statistician and is an active member of Second Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis.

    A graduate of Indiana University (Indianapolis campus), Melton received a bachelor’s of science degree in finance. He completed the graduate program of the Graduate School of Savings and Loan at Indiana University, Class of 1982. He served in the active duty of the U.S. Air Force in various bases around the world, honorably discharged in 1970.

    His awards and distinctions include being awarded the Maynard K. Hine Medal in 2006 from IUPUI, the highest honor bestowed to an alumnus by the Alumni Association for the IUPUI campus. Bart Peterson, Mayor of the City of Indianapolis, honored him as a Distinguished Citizen in 2003. Melton was a 2002 inductee into the IUPUI Athletics Hall of Fame, and he was honored as a Sagamore of the Wabash by Governor Frank O’Bannon in 2000. In 1979, he became a Charter Member of the Senior Executive Service of the United States by President Jimmy Carter.

    Gordon M. Graham

    Born in Indianapolis, Gordon M. Graham attended Broad Ripple High School and graduated in 1956 from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Economics; in 1957 from Indiana University with a Master’s degree in Business Administration; and in 1980 from Harvard University with a certificate in the Smaller Company Management Program.

    After military service in 1957-58, he joined the family business, Graham Electronic Supply Inc., becoming President in 1969.

    In 1983, after negotiating the sale of his business to Bell Industries, Inc., a public company based in Los Angeles, he moved to California. In 1986, he became Vice-President of Bell, and in 1991, he returned to Indianapolis while remaining on the Board of Directors of Bell Industries and managing special projects for the company.

    After Bell had some difficult years, he returned to Los Angeles in 1997 as President and soon after became CEO of the company for three years. He retired in June 2000, happy to be “Back home again in Indiana.”

    Graham has been involved in Eagle Scouts, Phi Delta Theta fraternity, Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine and is a member of Meridian Hills Country Club.

    He has three grown children. His hobbies, besides children and grandchildren, are golf, reading and traveling.

    Andrew Morris

    Andrew B. Morris, SIOR, is a Principal for Summit Realty Group and specializes in Industrial Advisory Services. He has more than 13 years of commercial real estate transactional and development experience, particularly within the bulk distribution product. He has transacted brokerage and consulting assignments in excess of $300 million, including investment sales, corporate and institutional representation, acquisition and disposition consulting, build-to-suit development, and renewal and relocation lease transactions. His extensive transactional background, combined with his strong financial acumen, makes him an invaluable asset when guiding complex assignments. In addition, he is a member of the Cushman & Wakefield Global Supply Chain Solutions Group.

    Prior to joining Summit, Morris served as Managing Director on the Industrial Advisory Team at Meridian Real Estate. Earlier, he was Vice President of Industrial Sales and Leasing at Trammell Crow Company.

    He graduated from the University of Colorado with a bachelor of arts degree and earned a master's of divinity from Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis. He also has a Development and Finance Certification from the National Development and Finance Council in New York.

    C. Perry Griffith, Jr., is Chairman and President of Denison, Inc., a family owned business headquartered in Indianapolis. Denison Properties and Denison Parking are the two primary subsidiaries of Denison, Inc. Griffith has served in this capacity since 1989. Prior to that, Griffith worked for 10 years at Merchants National Bank & Trust Company spending most of that time in commercial lending.

    Griffith served on the board of directors of Union State Bank in Carmel from 1982-1987 prior to its acquisition by Merchants National Bank & Trust Company. He also served as a Director and Vice Chairman of Benicorp Financial, Inc., prior to its sale in 2005. Currently, Griffith serves on the board of directors of Merchants Bank of Indiana.

    Griffith has served on a number of civic and not-for-profit boards. He is the past Chairman of Crown Hill Cemetery Board of Managers, Goodwill Industries of Central Indiana, Indianapolis Downtown, Inc., Indianapolis Private Industry Council and Riley Children’s Foundation. Griffith continues to serve on the boards of Crown Hill Cemetery Board of Corporators, Goodwill Industries of Central Indiana and the Goodwill Industries Foundation, Riley Children’s Foundation and the Washington Township School Foundation.

    Griffith is married to Michelle and has three children, Perry (married to Carrie), Maegan and Claire.

    Griffith graduated from Indiana University with a BS in business and received an MBA from Indiana University.
